    The PEACE Programme: a Unique Interuniversity Cooperation Network

    The 7th International PEACE Conference on Academic Cooperation and the Palestinian Universities will be held in Barcelona on 22-23 November 2010, jointly with the 8th session of the General Assembly of PEACE. It will be held just before the 5th International Conference on Higher Education, organized by GUNI, thus allowing participants to attend both events. With this event, PEACE will continue promoting its work of opening the Palestinian Universities to the International scenario, in order to improve the quality of education of the Palestinian population and to spread the demand for better living conditions.     Training for the Profession of Sustainable Development: Educational Requirements for Practical Imperatives

    In this article, the authors explain that a new type of cross-disciplinary practitioner is needed, one who understands the complex interactions between fields and is able to effectively coordinate and implement the insights offered by subject-specific specialists in order to solve the sustainable development challenges. In response to this need, the Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) programme launched at Columbia University in August 2009, and will begin at 21 additional universities in 2010 and 2011, establishing an expanding global network of leading institutions to promote and support sustainable development.
